Apparently, the New Year’s Eve day was not chosen by chance – in the festive bustle, Russians will not so sharply taste the “cherry on the cake” of endless repressions and other pressures, which turned out to be so rich in the outgoing year.
So, the liquidation of the “International Memorial” * – the Prosecutor General’s Office accuses human rights defenders of “systematic” violation of the requirements for labeling “a foreign agent”. The department, however, claims there are no legal grounds for its liquidation, and the decision is a political one that seeks to destroy an organization dedicated to studying political repression and protecting human rights.
Prosecutor: “Why should we, the descendants of the victors, be watching the rehabilitation of the Nazis now? Probably because someone pays for it.
This is the real reason Memorial is actively disowning its status as a foreign agent.”
Despite all the arguments of the defense, such formulations were enough for Judge Alla Nazarova to pronounce the final:”Satisfy the claim for the liquidation of Memorial, liquidate Memorial.”
Chairman of the Board of “Memorial” Yan Rachinsky has already stated that the court’s decision will be appealed and an appeal to the European Court of Human Rights will follow.
In general, another mega-shameful case of our interesting times. In fact, the country’s conscience and memory have been eliminated. And they let them float freely. A verdict for all of us.
