A Nigerian teenager, Morenike Victory Yinka-Banjo, was offered over 19 scholarships from the United States and Canada. Her scholarship package for an undergraduate program of study was worth $5 million. Victory Yinka-Banjo was born in Lagos, Nigeria, on December 13th, 2003.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND SCHOLARSHIPS

Victory Yinka-Banjo attended Princeton College, Surulere, Lagos and she graduated with an all-A grade in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in 2020.

When she was in high school, she served as the Senior Prefect, President of the Student Representative Council, Secretary of the Students’ Representative Council, Founder of the Coding Club and Violinist in the School Orchestra.

She achieved higher grades in the Cambridge IGCSEs than she expected.

She was rated one of the highest performers in the world in English as a second language (speaking endorsement) by the University of Cambridge International Examination (CIE).

In recognition of her outstanding performance in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), Victory Yinka-Banjo was offered a scholarship and admission to various universities in the United States and Canada.

Her merits earned her scholarships to study in Ivy League schools, including Yale College, Princeton University, Harvard University, Brown University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Virginia.

The University of Toronto offered her the Lester B. Pearson scholarship and the Karen McKellin International Leader of Tomorrow scholarship respectively, in order to study at the University of British Columbia and University of Toronto, respectively.

Victory Yinka-Banjo wants to study computational biology

Victory Yinka-Banjo is the daughter of Chika Yinka-Banjo, an academic at the University of Lagos, and Adeyinka Banjo, a procurement expert and supply chain executive in the private sector.
